William Sagan is an eternal dreamer of his traditional homeland Africa.

… baobab, boat, camel, cart, crane, cycle, effigy, hut, mask, minaret, pestle, sail, shade, silhouette, totem, tractor, truck … all surfacing from coloured papers like visions from remote memories

… drawings secretly kept in Japanese paper sketchbooks, slowly water coloured with warm pigments, dense and deep, from far away journeys. Keys to his memory, daily life of his imaginary Senegal…

… and always an inimitable signature of little stones put in circles, the various steps of life, the stages of racing…

a galaxy of individual and mixed cultural signs, universal and yet unhesitatingly personal.
